WorkStart taster at Harvester pub chain
WorkStart learners enjoyed an exciting day at the Harvester pub in Boston Manor, where they gained a valuable insight into careers within the hospitality industry.
The visit provided learners with the opportunity to experience a variety of workplace tasks and develop practical skills in a real-world environment. Throughout the day, they worked alongside staff members and learned about the many different roles involved in running a busy restaurant and pub.
Learners had the chance to prepare and serve hot drinks, helping them build confidence in customer-facing tasks and develop their communication skills. They also supported the team in preparing for lunch service by setting out cutlery and ensuring tables were ready to welcome customers.
As well as learning about food service and hospitality, learners got involved behind the scenes by helping to tidy the garden area and unload a delivery from the brewery into the cellar. These hands-on activities gave them an understanding of the teamwork, organisation and hard work that goes into creating a great customer experience.
The visit was a fantastic opportunity for learners to explore potential career paths, develop employability skills and build the confidence they need to succeed in the workplace.
