WorkStart Learners cook up success at Sutton Life Centre
WorkStart learners from across Orchard Hill College’s Sutton region enjoyed a special evening cooking at the Sutton Life Centre after expressing an interest in evening cookery activities last term.
The session gave learners the opportunity to develop their independence and culinary skills by making a vegetable pasta bake from scratch. From preparing the ingredients to serving the finished dish, learners worked together and demonstrated excellent teamwork throughout.
The event was a great success, with learners saying that they loved their pasta bakes. Many were so pleased with the results that they made extra portions to take home and share with their families.
This opportunity was introduced as part of our ‘You Said, We Did’ campaign, responding directly to feedback from our learner representatives who requested more practical and social activities as part of the enrichment calendar.
The WorkStart programme at Orchard Hill College helps learners develop the confidence, qualifications and workplace skills needed to move into employment.
