Enterprising student at Young Makers’ Market
A huge congratulations to Ellen from the WorkStart short course, who recently took part in the Young Makers Market at Morden Hall!
As part of her course, Ellen decided to develop her own enterprise business, creating and selling beautiful handmade jewellery. This was Ellen’s second time taking part in the market, and once again she achieved fantastic sales and received lots of positive feedback from customers.
Ellen worked incredibly hard in preparation for the event. She designed her own business cards, created a personalised t-shirt, organised her products, and even brought her own money box ready for the day. Her attention to detail and commitment to her business really shone through.
During the market, Ellen confidently used the card machine to process customer payments, putting into practice the skills she had been learning in class on Thursdays and Fridays. She demonstrated excellent customer service, spoke with customers about her products, and managed her stall professionally throughout the day.
The market provided a fantastic opportunity for Ellen to build her confidence, develop her employability skills, and experience what it is like to run a small business. Most importantly, she thoroughly enjoyed the day and was proud of everything she achieved.
Ellen was supported throughout the event by her job coach, who was delighted to see her growing independence and confidence.
Well done, Ellen! We are incredibly proud of your hard work, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit. We can’t wait to see what you achieve next!
