Taster days coming up!

Looking to develop your work and career prospects with a supported internship at the London Borough of Hillingdon? Then we have the programme for you. Places available for September 2022

The London Borough of Hillingdon in partnership with Orchard Hill College and Hillingdon Autistic Care and Support (HACS) are running a 1 year DFN Project SEARCH Transition to Work programme. During this one year programme, you’ll be based at the Civic Centre in Uxbridge gaining a range of transferable and marketable job skills such as team-working and problem-solving. With 800 hours of structured support from staff.  70% of last year’s graduates from the programme secured paid jobs and apprenticeships, others have gone on to further study.

You will have three rotations (supported work placements) of 10 weeks each, based at the local authority. These rotations may include roles such as Library Assistant, Electoral & Registration Services  assistant, Admin Support,  Media and Project Promotion Assistants and Facilities Assistant. On completion of the course, you will have gained a NCFE Level 1 or Level 2 Employability qualification, possibly functional skills qualifications, added relevant work experience to your CV and the be on the way to gaining an Apprenticeship or Job.  You will be supported by two full time job coaches from HACS, experts in supporting people with learning disabilities and autism who wish to gain employment.

Outcomes for learners are outstanding, teaching, learning and assessment are excellent and the extremely diverse programmes that meet learners’ individual needs, interests and aspirations, prepare them very well for life after College.
